Vectis Race & Rally

Vectis Race & Rally

Our next Family Day is our annual trip over to the IOW for an afternoon BBQ on the picturesque beach in Seaview Bay.

This event is open to all, Cruisers and Dinghy Sailors and our Fisherman. You can cruise in the company of others or join the Cruiser or Dinghy race. We will be escorted over with the Rib, Workboat and a Committee Boat. When we get to Seagrove Bay we have a beach ferry service via the Club Rib.

The Portchester Junior Open

Due to demand, the Portchester Sailing Club Angling Section, this year organised the first Junior Open Competition to coincide with the well known Senior open later this year.

The venue was the Castle foreshore, and with the weather very much in our favour, the 13 participants took up their positions for a 12.00pm start.

It was expected, that the days main catch would be mostly small shoal Bass,  and within 5 minutes from the start the fish were coming in. With plenty ...

Cruiser Racing for 2016

The 2016 PSC cruiser handicaps are hereby published here. These modified handicaps will be used for the following PSC races:

PSC Evening Series
The Weekend Series

Boats that did not sail in 2015 will use the handicap published at the start of the 2015 season.

Boats taking part in the PSC Cruiser racing (The Smiths Challenge Cup) therefore have 2 base numbers for 2016; their adjusted base number for the Evening Series and their adjusted base number for the Weekend Series.

Our 2015 Dinghy Club Champion set to Sail the World

Matt Humphreys, Portchester SC’s 2015 club champion cleaned up in his Solo winning almost every Trophy race as well as the evening series.  Matt has decided to take on a new challenge, and has set his sights on sailing around the world with girlfriend Amy Cartwright.  Hopefully we’ll be able to follow his progress when he sends us news, but in the meantime Matt’s winning Solo is up for sale.

Portchester Sailing Club – JETs Training 9th / 10th January 2016

Portchester Sailing Club welcomed 32 young Topper sailors and their families over the weekend of 9 th & 10th January to take part in the JETs training weekend.

The training is provided by the John Elliott Training Squad (JETs), originally founded between 4 Sailing Clubs – Spinnaker, Christchurch, Hill Head and Portchester and organised by John Elliott. The aim was to bridge the gap between Club Sailors and the National Youth Squad. ...
