Our next Family Day is our annual trip over to the IOW for an afternoon BBQ on the picturesque beach in Seaview Bay.
This event is open to all, Cruisers and Dinghy Sailors and our Fisherman. You can cruise in the company of others or join the Cruiser or Dinghy race. We will be escorted over with the Rib, Workboat and a Committee Boat. When we get to Seagrove Bay we have a beach ferry service via the Club Rib.
If families want to come but don’t want to take their own boats, a number of the Cruisers are willing to give people a lift over. The Club boats can also be booked by suitably experienced members.
Full race instructions have been published on the club website. The race itself commences off the Harbour Entrance at 11:00. Dinghy Sailors will be launching from the club at approx. 09:30 to be escorted down and out of the Harbour.
At the moment the weather forecast does look favourable, however a final decision whether to proceed with the dinghy race and cruise will be taken at 08.30 on the day to take account of weather and sea state for the race and the return journey.
The event is based on take and cook your own food, although we hope to take the club’s two oil drum BBQ’s over on the Workboat. When we have had enough food and drink, we will set off late afternoon to get the favourable tide back through the Harbour entrance and back to the club for approx. 18:00.
For the last couple of years we have not been able to take the dinghies over, fingers crossed this year will be an exception.
We are also looking for a workboat driver for the day to assist.
If you cannot attend the briefing but are intending to join in please can you email either
